Improvements to passenger access and security at Aberdeen airport's terminal forecourt began this week.
Work on the project is expected to take about 18 weeks. It will cause disruption to the airport car park and drop-off area.
When completed, the new forecourt will incorporate a dedicated access lane for taxis and buses and a drop-off area for passengers. Low energy, high efficiency lighting is being fitted as part of the airport's drive to reduce CO2 emissions.
Aberdeen airport customer services director, Will Dougherty, said: I am confident that when this work is complete the forecourt will meet the needs of our passengers and represent a significant improvement on the existing arrangements, improving the end-to-end experience of key stakeholders and passengers alike.
"Unfortunately, during the construction phase of the project a degree of disruption is inevitable, particularly in the area currently used as the drop-off area and car park. We will be working hard to ensure that these new arrangements are introduced as smoothly as possible, therefore minimising potential inconvenience throughout construction.
