Birmingham International Airport has held its annual awards ceremony for employees who achieved qualifications during the last financial year.
A range of qualifications were gained by 119 airport employees, covering skills such as customer services, literacy, numeracy, British Sign Language, health and safety, public relations, accountancy and IT.
Joe Kelly, acting managing director, said: It is fantastic news that so many of our staff are investing in themselves and taking advantage of the training that the company can provide. Their increased knowledge complements the extensive skills base that already exists. Within the past 12 months 19% of our staff have earned a national recognised qualification, which is not easy when you take in to account the time and effort that these staff have to put in, along with their everyday jobs and family life. I am so pleased for them all and they deserve this recognition.
Course tutors from Solihull College and employees from other companies based at the airport joined Birmingham International staff for the ceremony.
Travellers looking for a great value airport stopover with a difference should take a look at Birmingham Manor Hotel. Dating back to 1745, the Manor hotel offers an award winning bar and restaurant and 24 hour transfers to Birmingham International airport just three miles away.
