Travellers flying with Lufthansa from Bristol Airport are to be given the opportunity to use the latest in mobile technology to ease and quicken the boarding process.
The latest in travel technology will enable passengers to utilise mobile boarding passes on all non-stop flights to Germany as well as to most onward European destinations.
The innovative new system sees mobile boarding passes sent to passengers' internet-enabled mobile phone via email or SMS. The pass includes all relevant flight details - such as passenger name, flight number and departure time - plus a 2D barcode. It is this barcode that enables passengers to pass through the security checkpoints and board the aircraft without the need for a printed document.
The launch at Bristol follows the successful introduction of mobile boarding passes on all domestic German routes in 2008, a service that has seen in excess of 50,000 passengers each month using electronic boarding passes.
Travellers flying from Bristol Airport may choose to enhance their travel experience by booking an overnight hotel stay at an airport hotel either before or after their flight.
The Bristol Days Inn Hotel provides high quality 3-star accommodation just a short drive from the airport. Here travellers will be able to relax in preparation of their travels or experience a revitalising stay after their flight.
