Bedroom at the Coventry Allesley Hotel

Midlands-based businessman Attila Balogh has successfully set the record for flying a single jet aircraft from Coventry Airport to Budapest, completing the journey in six hours, 54 minutes.

Balogh, CEO of a Birmingham-based company specialising in environmentally-friendly packaging, began the attempt in a Cirrus SR22 at 8.15am on Sunday July 27, arriving in Budapest at 4.09pm to be welcomed by family and friends.

The flight in fact set three new records. With a fuel stop made in Egelsback near Frankfurt, Balogh also achieved records for flying from Coventry to Frankfurt, as well as from Frankfurt to Budapest.

Speaking after the event, Balogh said: "It has been really exciting setting these new world records; I could not have achieved them without the support of family, friends and sponsors."

For those travellers looking to fly from Coventry Airport - perhaps on a more sedate getaway than enjoyed by Balogh - Holiday Extras provides great value hotel accommodation at the 3-star Coventry Allesley Hotel, located just six miles from the airport in the peaceful village of Allesley.
