Edinburgh Festival

The annual Edinburgh International Festival starts on August 8th and runs until August 31st this year.

The three week programme of events is packed with classical music, theatre, opera and dance performed across six major theatres, concert halls and smaller city venues.

The Usher Hall, Festival Theatre, Edinburgh Playhouse, King's Theatre, Royal Lyceum Theatre, Queen's Hall and The Hub are the festival's main venues. Since the first festival in 1947 performers have been inspired to put on their own shows outside the official event. The popular Edinburgh Festival Fringe now draws hundreds of thousands of visitors in its own right.

Edinburgh Hilton Exterior

During the festival period the population of Scotland's capital city doubles, welcoming hundreds of thousands of performers and spectators from across the globe. Edinburgh attracts tourists all year round with its amazing natural landscapes and outstanding architecture including four castles.

Don't forget to book your hotel early if you're heading to Edinburgh this summer for a break or using the airport. There may still be time to book a night at the Edinburgh Hilton, a comfortable four star hotel located in the grounds of Edinburgh airport.
