Kate Jarvis,
Holiday Extras Hotel Reviewer

Hi, I’m Kate Jarvis, one of Holiday Extras’ dedicated team who try every hotel we recommend. I’ve slept in the beds, eaten in the restaurants, sipped drinks in every bar and even worked out in the gym. And I can promise you that the Hilton at Gatwick easily deserves all its 4 stars, being 5 hassle-free minutes stroll from the check-in desks.

Isn’t it reassuring to know that we test every hotel and car park that we recommend?

Comfort and convenience

If you prefer your travel unruffled, choose the Hilton at Gatwick. Even as a casual stroll, a covered walkway gets you to the South Terminal in minutes. In fact, your holiday starts here: there are two excellent restaurants, two relaxing bars, a Costa coffee shop, a swimming pool, a fully-equipped business centre and a gym. Every room has internet access, satellite TV and pay-per-view movies.

The second: park it yourself in a North terminal car park. And the third: Meet & Greet, booking Maple Manor’s service which collects your car from the hotel, takes it to a secured car park, and returns it at the end of your holiday. And, with our Best Price Guarantee, you cannot find cheaper parking anywhere else.

Whichever option you choose, the initial impression is identical: deeply-carpeted silence. And, having tried it ourselves, we can vouch that triple-glazed, sound-proofed windows prepare you for a sublime night’s sleep, with the added surprise of waking in the middle of Gatwick airport.

Standard room: all the Hilton’s standard rooms are of the quality you’d expect from the famous hotel chain: elegant, sumptuously fitted and air-conditioned. The plasma screen TV features pay-per-view movies. You have internet access, a phone, radio and MP3 player dock. There’s a hairdryer and tea and coffee. There’s also an en-suite bathroom amply supplied with La Source toiletries.

Double rooms: standard double rooms are spacious (23 square metres) and luxurious. Comfortably upholstered, they offer every opportunity to unwind. Every up-to-date convenience is at your fingertips. And there’s a large double bed for blissful sleep.

Family rooms: these rooms are large (52 square metres) and have a large bathroom and masses of storage. Standard family rooms are fitted with one double and two single beds, plus the option of adding a cot or a roll-out bed so three children can be accommodated as well as the adults.

Compact family rooms: at 32 square metres, larger than standard doubles. Fitted with one double bed and two bunks, offering ample space for two adults and two children.
Connecting rooms: a sensible arrangement for maintaining privacy while keeping the children near at hand.

Triple rooms: fitted with three single beds and highly suitable for three adults.

Bars, snacks and other dining options

Amy's Bar: the crucial meeting place in the atrium where cocktail meets wine bar meets café. A good spot to chyeck email over coffee in the afternoon and there are few cooler spots to round off a pleasurable evening’s dining until 2.30am every night. Amy's does light lunches like Cajun chicken salads, hot sandwiches and plenty of vegetarian options until 5.00pm.

Charlie Fry’s Sports Bar: the popular Hilton ground floor pub with a fine range of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails, where sports fans can keep up-to-date with events on big screen TV and news over a drink in a truly relaxed environment. The atmosphere is friendly and the bar staff very accommodating (when asked to change channels for the football one evening, they happily switched one of their screens over for the match). Liveliness builds when hotel guests start to unwind. Charlie Fry’s offers typical bar food between 5.00 – 22.45pm.

Guests upgraded to executive rooms: the executive lounge serves free canapés every evening from 6.30pm and a free continental breakfast between 6am and 10.30am every morning.

The Hilton at Gatwick was lovely, from the staff to the meal in the evening. It was worth every penny. Ms Bullio

Customer Reviews

We booked a room for 3 adults we had a big double and two very comfortable singles too. Check in easy. Your key must be used for going up in lifts which is comforting to know as not anyone can use them. Room spacious and clean.
