Overview

Spend the first night of your holiday in a cosy, little, family-run bed and breakfast, and wake just 10 minutes from Gatwick airport. The Waterhall Country House is not only great value for money, you'll get warm and friendly service too, but bear in mind that checking in after 22:00 incurs a late check-in fee of £50. It's especially lovely in the summer, when you can explore the 34 acres of surrounding countryside and even spot deer roaming around. Then again, we like it just as much in the winter - warm yourself by the open fire in the bar and tuck into a hot breakfast in the morning.

More Information

An 18th century, country house hotel that's family-run and full of charm and character. It's the ideal place for couples looking for a romantic, rural hideaway. It's six miles from the airport and rests in a peaceful rural setting, with 34 acres of grounds including an immaculate garden. If you're lucky, you may even spot one of the local deer!

You can check into this cosy couples hotel between 15:00 and 22:00. Children under 12 aren't allowed, so it's definitely not somewhere to come with the kids. But for some deer-spotting, a romantic atmosphere and fire-side lounging in the winter, it's perfect.

Nightly specials are available in the hotel's conservatory - you can enjoy tasty British classics like steak and ale pie or a roast. The receptionist will be able to tell you which menu is on offer that evening. There's also a bar come lounge area with serves drinks and snacks until 22:00.

Hot breakfasts are served in the conservatory every weekday from 07:00 to 09:00, 08:00 to 10:00 at weekends and cost £7.50 per person. Outside of those times, you can get a breakfast-to-go-bag which includes fruit juice, yogurt, dried fruit and biscuits. Ask at reception when you check in.

Channel 5's hotel inspector, Alex Polizzi, said it's the cleanest hotel she'd ever stayed in when she visited in November 2013. And we'd have to agree. Apart from cleanliness, you can expect to find a TV, an en suite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities and a very gorgeous view.

Hints, tips and extra bits:

We don't recommend the Waterhall for people who have mobility problems - due to the age of the building the owners aren't able to make adaptions to it. If you need an accessible hotel, give us a call on 0800 083 7430 and we'll find the perfect hotel for you.

Allow plenty of time to get to the hotel. You have to check in between 15:00 and 22:00 - there's no-one who can check you into your room after that time. Please be aware that checking in after 22:00 incurs a late check-in fee of £50.
