The hard bit's done and your trip is just a few hours away - so pull up a seat and soak up some pre-holiday cheer in Borders Bar, the small yet perfectly formed bar at the Heathrow Mercure Hotel.
Borders bar is snug, but you can take your drink through to the hotel's conservatory-style lounge, which has lots of comfy seating, flatscreen TVs and a well-equipped play area for the little ones.
You'll be glad to hear that the Mercure's budget prices extend to its bar. And with three lagers on tap, Strongbow, Guinness, a number of bottled beers and ciders, wine by the glass and bottle, and the usual spirits and whiskies, you're bound to find a tipple to toast your holiday.
