Simple food to keep your kids happy
There's no formal restaurant at the Holiday Inn Express Liverpool airport, but the lounge in the lobby serves both a buffet breakfast and evening meals. The lounge isn't fancy, but it's an informal, pleasant place to sit comfortably and grab a bite to eat.
All your kids' favourites
- Breakfast: 4am to 10am
- Dinner: 6pm to 10pm
Options from the lounge's bar menu include simple favourites like pizza, burgers and fish and chips, especially good for kids. The food is basic, no frills stuff, but perfectly serviceable. At around £9 per dish, it isn't cheap, but for airport food, that's still fairly reasonable.
If you'd prefer something fancier, there's a Dobbie's garden centre next to the hotel, which, as standard, has a pleasant, upmarket bistro restaurant and plenty to keep you busy. With John Lennon being a small, out of the way airport, it's nice not to feel stranded.
Breakfast at the Express is, again, basic, but also free to all guests. There's a hot buffet with scrambled eggs, beans and sausages, which isn't something you'll find for free at many hotels. Otherwise, all the regular continental options are present and accounted for, from cereals, yoghurts, fruit, muffins, pastries, bread and a conveyor-belt toaster. To wash that down, there are coffee machines that provide hot water for tea and a few types of juice.
At weekends, the breakfast buffet gets busy. If you show up between 4am and 7am, you should be fine, but it gets crowded from there on, with the most popular time being from 9am.
The hotel doesn't offer a room service. You are welcome to take food from the bar up to your room.
Renovations were being carried out whilst we were there and when we went to breakfast a large sheet of pasteurized fell off the wall narrowiy missing my husband. We told the staff as it was then blocking a doorway and they fixed it back up but with no recompcnse to us other than an apology.Mrs Cross (Liverpool Express by Holiday Inn)
As a single occupant I found it very expensive. The facilities were excellent. I was unhappy to find that you use the awful Parking Eye on your carpark.Mr Gerrard (Liverpool Express by Holiday Inn)
slight hiccup - with directions to airparks and hotel. apparently not only one!! nothing major though.Mr Cooper-Cocks (Liverpool Express by Holiday Inn)
Booked Airparks car parking with hotel.Mrs Williamson (Liverpool Express by Holiday Inn)
Struggled to find Airparks directions from Kettering appalling. All new roads around Luton airport and no updated directions. Having got completely lost we paid a taxi driver and followed him to Airparks. Never again. A very stressful start to our holiday
Comfortable, clean and well-equipped bedroom. Tasty food, including good early breakfast. Helpful, friendly staff staff. Would recommend Holiday Inn Express at Luton airport for all this and for its convenience.Mrs Tolhurst (Liverpool Express by Holiday Inn)
