Information for passengers travelling 10/08/06 from Heathrow -

Heathrow airport is now closed to all arrivals. BAA has urged all passengers planning to fly out of Heathrow today to postpone their plans and remain at home unless the journey is essential.

The airport has closed to incoming flights due to the 'critical' level of threat of a terrorist attack.

Information for passengers travelling 10/08/06 from Gatwick Airport-

Gatwick airport is experiencing severe disruption. Check-in and hand search processes across both North and South terminals will continue throughout the day. Passengers are requested not to come to Gatwick airport today unless absolutely necessary. Those passengers who must travel today need to consider using public transport - Be prepared for long delays as a result of these measures.
Passengers will be hand searched - Footwear and all items (including pushchairs and walking aids) must be x-ray screened - No Liquids.

Information for passengers travelling 10/08/06 from Birmingham International -

Birmingham airport requests asked passengers to turn up for flights as normal.
It said people should carry no hand luggage unless absolutely essential, and to speed up check-in they should have travel documents to hand, presenting them with passport open at right page.
Birmingham airport requests that passengers arrive to check-in with plenty of time to spare - don't expect to get checked in at the 'last minute'.

Passengers are being advised to check in at least two hours earlier than usual. No hand luggage is allowed to be taken on board - only the barest essentials in clear plastic bags.
Belfast International Airport security director said delays are be unavoidable.
"The queues of people going through central search are massive.. we are searching absolutely everybody."

Security at all Wales' airports has been strengthened - extra staff are in place to implement new security measures and to "minimise delays".
Allow plenty of extra time when checking in.
