FAQs
We've probably all heard horror stories about 'dodgy' airport parking, but many of these can be taken with a pinch of salt. Delve a bit deeper, however, and a number of real-life horror stories come to the fore. Below are details of some of the most publicised.
An investigation carried out by Sky News in 2006 revealed that a Meet and Greet service promised much more than it delivered. Sky News reporter Joel Hills was offered a 'dedicated secure compound facility' with '24-hour security patrols'. Instead, the GPS system fitted into the undercover car revealed that it had been left in a yard 10 miles from the agreed compound and lacked adequate security measures.
BBC One's acclaimed consumer show Rogue Traders went undercover at Gatwick Airport to investigate ACE Parking. During the course of the investigation, it found that customers' cars had been left in unsecured areas and driven erratically at speeds.
Reports on the Daily Mirror detail the recent prosecution of gatwicksecureparking.co.uk's owner Resat Gundogdu. According to reports, customers were offered 'secure parking, six-foot high fencing and lockable gates'. In reality, cars were found to be parked on a high street outside a kebab shop.
