At Glasgow airport the main terminal has now re-opened following the incident on Saturday morning though some delays and disruption still remains.

All 39 check-in desks at the airport are now fully operational and passengers are being processed in Terminal 1 and T2. Managing director of Glasgow Airport Gordon Dewar said that work had gone on through the night to get the airport back up and running and "with the support of the Police, our airline partners and BAA staff, we have been able to re-open the main terminal building within 24 hours of Saturday's attack."

Glasgow airport is now fully operational with the majority of flights operating normally though remain subject to delay. Airport operator BAA advise passengers due to travel to the airport to confirm the status of their flight with their airline before heading off from home.

Those passengers who have received confirmation that their flight is departing should check-in as normal though delays are expected. The forecourt around Glasgow airport remains closed. However, slip roads around the airport are now open. To avoid congestion passengers are urged not to drive to the airport. For the purposes of pick-up and drop-off private motorists should use Car Park 1.

Rather than having a friend drop you off, Holiday Extras advise making use of Glasgow airport parking. Avoid the need to drive to the terminal with a free transfer to a convenient drop off point and arrive at check in early without having to spend vital time searching for a parking space.

Alternatively passengers are advised to make use of a Glasgow airport hotel. You can use public transport to reach the hotel and, after a comfortable nights sleep, a transfer to the airport buildings and avoid the delays and disruption. Since this weekends security alert demand for Glasgow airport hotels has been exceptionally high. Be sure to book early.

If your flight has been delayed an airport lounge at Glasgow airport offers a haven from the hustle and bustle of a busy, crowded terminal. Relax in first class comfort while awaiting your flight with all drinks and snacks included (except champagne). With prices starting from just £17.50 per person airport lounges are not just for business class passengers.
