August 2008 was the busiest month ever for London Luton, with a record-breaking 1,095,956 passengers using the airport. With an increase of 2.6% on August 2007, an additional 27,000 passengers passed through the Luton Airport terminal.
In contrast to the major London airports, Luton expects the positive growth to continue into 2009, with the launch of a further nine new services this year. London Luton has announced new services to Poland, Romania, Italy as well as the new twice-daily flights to Rotterdam from transavia.com.
Marketing Director at Luton Airport, Natalie Raper, said, "Achieving record passenger traffic in the current economic climate is a fantastic performance.
We are committed to continual development in order to meet the needs of our passengers and airline partners and these results demonstrate that we are achieving this. With our network of nearly 100 unique destinations, offering high frequency and far reaching destinations we continue to serve the requirements of both the business and leisure traveller"
