Atlantic Airways has begun its seasonal service between Stansted airport and Shetland, commencing on the 23rd May and running until August 29, offering a twice weekly service for travellers heading to the scenic Scottish island.
On Mondays and Fridays the direct service will fly from BAA Stansted to Sumburgh for what will be the third year of operation for the 90 minute flight. The service puts the rugged beauty of the Shetland Isles in easy reach for travellers but also opens up larger travel opportunities for the island's residents.
Sumburgh Airport manager, Nigel Flaws stated: "The north - south link is good for the islands because it is a direct service that supports inbound tourism and opens up access to a lot of onward connections to Europe from Stansted for local residents. Shetland is a unique environment in the UK and Atlantic Airways has helped to open it up to new tourism markets by making us more accessible in recent years."
