Budget airline Ryanair is launching seven new routes between Germany and the rest of Europe.

The services from Memmingen airport, which is in Bavaria, 75 kilometres west of Munich, will start in May.

They will run to Stansted, Dublin, Alghero in Sardinia, Alicante, Girona and Reus in Spain, and Pisa in Italy.

Ryanair expects the new services to carry more than 500,000 passengers each year, bringing a flood of new visitors to Bavaria, and to create 500 jobs in the area.

Chairman Michael O'Leary said: "Ryanair is delighted to join up with Memmingen (Munich West) airport to bring really low fares, competition and choice to consumers in and visitors to Bavaria.

"Memmingen provides us with an ideal gateway to southern Germany and the Bavarian region."
