We're the people who'll get the customer what they want - even if they don't know what they want. We take calls from customers who want to make a booking. If they're not sure which hotel or car park would be best for them, we'll ask them about their needs and use our expert product knowledge to advise them. We also deal with email inquiries and calls from customers who have a problem with their booking.
Our travel consultants are great listeners. They're understanding, patient people who can work out what a customer wants during a brief conversation. They build up an in-depth knowledge of our products and have the enthusiasm to sell them well. They'll help the customer by finding the product that's best for them, not best for us. And during our busiest periods, at the height of summer, they'll do this hundreds of times a day. The pride we take in the way we deal with our customers drives everything we do. The sort of people we are after are people who are really passionate about customer service - we know customers won't come back to us if they get bad service.
The call centre is an enjoyable place to work. The management team invest a lot of time and effort in creating a good environment and there's a fun atmosphere. People turnover and sickness rates are low. It's a skilled job, but it's not a difficult job - our products are good products to sell because they're associated with a positive experience, a holiday. We only deal with incoming calls - we don't chase business - so everyone who calls us wants to buy something from us. Angry customers are few and far between.
Here it's all about being a team and getting there together. There's a lot of communication between the managers and their people, and the managers try to act on the feedback they get. If there's a problem, they aim to sort it out before it becomes a big issue. People are coached individually every month, no matter how long they've been here or how well they're doing, because we believe there's always room to improve.
You have to be prepared to work evenings and weekends, but you'll also be able to supplement your wages by doing overtime - and, if you perform well, by earning bonuses. These can amount to more than £200 a month, or you might find your good performance rewarded by a prize like a games console or a bottle of champagne.
