Here at Holiday Extras we believe in bringing out the best in people - then making it even better. We want our people not only to make the most of the skills they know they have, but to discover new ones. When we recruit someone, we look not only at who they are now, but who they have the potential to become.
We have a budget of about £105,000 a year for external training, plus another £200,000 or so for internal training. It's a lot of money, but we know it benefits you, your team and the company as a whole. We know that if you have the skills and experience to do your job better, you'll not only be more productive but happier too.

When you join us you'll have a career review each year to discuss your strengths, areas for improvement and how you'd like your career to develop. We'll then offer you any training we think would help. We're also keen to second people to different roles or give them special projects to broaden their knowledge and experience.

We run a vast range of courses for our people on anything from Word and Excel to assertiveness, stress management and driver training. And if we can't provide the training we think would benefit you, we'll pay for the people who can. From accountancy qualifications to masters degrees, we'll help you get the training you need to be an expert at your job.

We've our own in-house coach who all our people can come to for a helping hand if they're having difficulty with any aspect of their work. Many teams also appoint more experienced members as mentors to newer members to help them learn and develop - though that often turns out to be a two-way process. Our call centre people, who deal with customers directly, are given two weeks' training before they take their first call on their own.
