Best Airport

Belfast International airport

Belfast International airport has been named Best Airport at the HolidayExtras.com Customers' Awards 2010.

As one of the UK's major domestic airports, Belfast International serves millions of travellers annually, with more than four million passing through its doors to embark on their holiday in 2009 alone.

The airport, which was founded in 1917 to be used as a base for training Royal Flying Corps during the First World War, operates a host of domestic and international flight routes, with some of the most popular destinations including Malaga, Palma, Paris, Barcelona and New York.

"Excellent service from all involved. A pleasure to travel."

Belfast International, which is often still referred to as Aldergrove Airport, is located 13 miles north west of the city of Belfast and is owned by Abertis - the Spanish corporation which also operates the Cardiff and Stockholm Skavsta airports.

The airport is currently undergoing a £10 million development project that is due for completion this year. The redesign will make the airport more user-friendly and increase the ease with which travellers can pass from check-in to departures.
