SWISS

Swiss International Air Lines - SWISS - has been named Most Recommended Airline for Travelling with Babies at the HolidayExtras.com Customers' Awards 2010.

SWISS was born from the bankruptcy of the national flag carrier of Switzerland, Swissair. During its initial years, Swissair was widely known as the 'flying bank', due to the extremely stable financial situation the airline enjoyed. In 1971, the jet age had well and truly arrived and Swissair invested in its first Boeing 747 'jumbo jet'. This new aircraft allowed more passengers to fly at one time, resulting in a positive financial effect on the airline.

"Magnificent on the outward journey - rapid friendly check-in and smooth operation."

Following a takeover by the Lufthansa group, SWISS has earned the status previously afforded to Swissair and has a great reputation among the Swiss people and frequent flyers. In fact, the airline won the Condé Nast Traveller readers' survey for short-haul flights in 2008.

SWISS has bassinets available for babies up to the age of eight months, as well as meals guaranteed for any children booked on the flight. Children under the age of two will only have to pay 10 per cent of the adult price; children between two to 12 will be charged 65 per cent of the adult fare. With such benefits available, it is no surprise that the airline has been named Most Recommended Airline for Travelling with Babies.
