Tell me about Birmingham airport

Birmingham airport is the largest airport in the Midlands. The first flight from the airport took off in 1939 and in the early 80s the airport grew to the point where construction was needed to handle the growing passenger numbers. Now, access to virtually all corners of the globe is possible from Birmingham airport, with over 35 million people living within a two-hour drive.

What makes Birmingham special?

A £40 million terminal development was opened at the turn of the century to provide easier access between terminals and greater choice of catering and retail outlets. This expansion cemented the airport's position amongst the top ten in the UK. Various travel links to the airport include: car hire from six of the biggest firms, direct access to terminals from Birmingham International Station via the ‘Air-Rail Link’ monorail system and even easy bicycle access.

Has Birmingham Airport won any other awards?

The airport was awarded Best in the 5-10 Million Annual Passengers class in 2007, and also earned Silver in the Holiday Extras Customers' Awards 2010 Best Airport Car Park category. It also gained the Carbon Trust Standard for continued successful efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
