KLM was founded in 1919 to serve the Netherlands and its colonies at the time. It has been part of the Air France KLM group since a merger in 2004, enabling the Dutch carrier to become a leading international airline. KLM focuses on providing innovative products and safe, efficient service for customers alongside strong principles of sustainability. During 2011, the KLM group carried more than 25 million passengers on 204 planes to 133 destinations.
KLM and its cabin crew focus on the individual behind the customer, doing everything they can to make a passenger's experience pleasant. With crew members often only meeting an hour before departure, they also work hard to build team rapport quickly before every flight, in order to provide the best service possible to travellers.
The Air France KLM Group was named Business Airline of the Year 2012 at the Business Travel Awards. KLM consistently wins awards across the globe, including Best Baggage Initiative at the Future Travel Experience Awards 2011 and Europes Leading Airline of 2010 by the World Travel Awards.
