"Hana Maui, Hawaii, because the journey to get there, along the Hana Highway is one of the best drives in the world: the beaches are perfect, the waterfalls and bamboo forest magical and Hana Maui hotel idyllic."
Hana Maui
Lazy days and cocktails, perfect beaches, sunshine and surfers, friendly islanders, the warm Pacific Ocean, Jack Johnson and Elvis. Aloha, this is Hawaii. Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands, with the remote and peaceful town of Hana perched on the island's rugged east coast. The drive to Hana is legendary because of its hairpin turns, spectacular coastal views, narrow one-lane bridges, waterfalls and lush rainforests.
Paia: This charming surfer hang-out was once a sugar plantation town and is now full of eclectic boutiques, galleries and restaurants. It is just a few minutes to Hookipa Beach Park and is also the last stop on the long road to Hana.
Haleakala National Park: Learn all about the Haleakala volcano, hike up the Pipiwai Trail or take a dip in one of the Seven Sacred Pools or 'Oheo Gulch', a collection of popular natural pools.
Iao Valley State Park: One of Maui's most popular landmarks is located here, the 1,200-foot Iao Needle. This iconic rock, situated in the centre of the island, can be reached by an easy hike through the tropical foliage.
