"Scottsdale, Arizona. Scorching in the summer, clement the rest of the year, stunning any time you go. The climate, the proximity to the Grand Canyon, the hiking trails, the desert scenery... there are many reasons to go, but mine was for a golf holiday and in this market it's incomparable - a desert oasis with the widest choice of quality facilities, courses, restaurants and nightlife of any destination currently being marketed around the world."

Scottsdale - Tombstone

"The town too tough to die".

The town of Tombstone, Arizona was founded by miner Ed Schieffelin. He came to the area searching for silver and when telling locals of his intent was told that the only stone he'd find in the hills was "his own tombstone". However Schieffelin proved his doubters wrong and found a rich vein of silver, naming it "tombstone". From here the settlement quickly grew into a prosperous mining town.

In the late 1800s the town descended into the classic lawlessness of the western, culminating in a pitched gun battle at OK Corral between cowboys and local law enforcement. By the mid-1800s the silver mines had dried up and combined with devastating fires in the dry climate Tombstone was to see its population dwindle to just 700 by 1900. This was to be an all-time low for the town, however, and during the next century Tombstone has flourished as a tourist hotspot and place of historical significance.

Tombstone

The modern Tombstone flourishes thanks to its strong tourist industry. Welcoming 400,000 visitors every year the town puts on a wide variety of shows celebrating its history. The town also has a thriving live music and dance scene at its many bars and saloons.
