Aberdeen airport baggage and security

Doncaster airport has strict rules in place regarding baggage and the transportation of potential weapons and liquids. Please ensure that you read the information below thoroughly before you travel to the airport to ensure you are fully aware of the regulations that are in place. This will allow you to pass through the airport without problems as well as preventing any delay for your fellow passengers.

Please ensure that you check-in as soon as possible allowing yourself time if any delays are occurring at the airport.

Baggage Allowances

Your baggage allowances will depend upon the airline you are travelling with. You should be able to find your baggage allowance on your airline ticket or if you are travelling with an e-ticket then the allowance should be printed on your conformation slip. If you have any questions about the baggage allowance you have been given then we suggest you contact your airline for the latest information.

Please pay close attention to your baggage allowance weight as exceeding this will incur high costs. Airlines and airports are attempting to ensure passengers do not exceed these allowances and as a result have put high charges in place for overweight baggage.

Passengers are usually only permitted a single piece of hand luggage when travelling through the airport. If this is likely to cause a problem for you then we would suggest contacting the airport and your airline to see if they have relaxed their cabin baggage allowances.

Oversize items

Any items that are over the designated dimensions will have to be checked into the hold of the aircraft. If this is not possible then we would ask you to contact your airline to see if an exception can be made, however it is unusual for this to be possible.

Liquid restrictions

The increase in security at UK airports has created the need for limits to be set on the transportation of liquids. Taking time to read the following will mean that you are prepared when you arrive at Robin Hood airport. Any liquids should be within a container no larger than 100ml. Each 100ml or less container should be stored within a clear re-sealable plastic bag no larger than 20cmx20cm. There is a limit of only one clear re-sealable plastic bag per passenger.

Common definitions of a liquid

  • All drinks, including water, soup, syrups.
  • Cosmetics, creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, mascara, etc.
  • Sprays and pressurised containers including shaving foam and spray deodorants.
  • Pastes, including toothpastes.
  • Gels, including hair and shower gel.
  • Any other solutions and items of similar consistency.

Please Note: Essential medicines or baby food can be carried on in larger volumes than 100ml, however, these items will be subject to authentication.

Please ensure that before you reach the security area all liquids that are not essential for the flight are placed in your hold baggage and not your hand luggage. If a liquid is essential for the flight then you must make sure that it is presented at the security area in the form described above.

Purchasing liquids at the airport

In spite of the liquid restrictions outlined above you may purchase liquids of any size after you have been through the security area (airside) which will be handed to you in a special sealed bag. It is important that you do not break the seal or open these until you have arrived at your final destination. You must ensure that you keep your receipt or proof of purchase incase security wish to examine it. You will also be asked to present it at all transfer points you travel through.

Passengers may take on board liquid items of any size that are purchased after the security check in the departure lounge (sometimes referred to as 'airside'). Duty free or similar purchases will be given to you in a special sealed bag. Do not open this bag until you have reached your final destination. You should also retain your proof of purchase throughout your journey. You will be required to show it at all transfer points.

Please note restrictions apply to duty free purchases made on return journeys where passengers change flights at an EU airport. These are explained in detail in the next section.

Banned Items.

Increased security on flights has let to the banning of many items in hand luggage. Please read the list of banned items below and ensure that they are not contained within your hand luggage. If any of these items are left in hand luggage then they will be confiscated by security staff and may create delay when passing through security. We have outlined below some of the most common banned items that are found in passengers luggage however this is by no means a complete list. If you have an item you are unsure of and it is not mentioned in our list below then we would suggest contacting Doncaster airport or your airline for clarification. Banned items include:
