Setting off on holiday from East Midlands airport? We’ve got everything you need to know before you fly here on this page. If you want to check the status of your flight, we’ve got live updates on all flights leaving East Midlands airport today below – or just enter a flight number and a date into the boxes on the right. We can tell you the status of your flight and where it is on its path, and we’ll also give you information about the airline, the aircraft you’ll be flying in, the weather forecast at your destination and places to visit while you’re there.

Check-in at East Midlands airport opens two to three hours before the flight leaves, and the airport recommends that passengers arrive with at least two hours to spare, even if you’ve checked in online. Do check with your airline though, in case they advise getting there earlier. Remember that you’ll need photo ID even for domestic flights, and that if you’re going abroad, many countries require you to have at least six months left on your passport.

Baggage allowance

Different airlines allow different amounts of hand baggage, so you should check what your airline’s rules are. All airlines have the same restriction on liquids: you can’t carry any liquids, pastes or gels in your hand luggage if they’re in containers larger than 100ml. You can bring liquids in containers smaller than that, but they need to be carried through security in a clear, resealable plastic bag, and only one bag of liquids is allowed per passenger. Liquids of any size can be carried in your hold luggage, and of course you can buy drinks and toiletries in the departures lounge after security.

If you need more than 100ml of liquid medicine during the flight, you’ll need to get approval from the airline beforehand and bring documentation from a medical professional with you. Laptops and other large electrical items must be taken out of your hand luggage and screened separately.

Book East Midlands airport parking and hotels

Whether you’ve got six months or two days till you go on holiday, you’ll always save money by booking your East Midlands airport parking and East Midlands airport hotel with us. And the earlier you book, the more money we can save you. Check out our East Midlands airport parking page to see our range of great value, fully secured car parks at or just outside the airport. We also have plenty of three and four-star East Midlands airport hotels to suit any budget, too, from the reliable Premier Inn to the luxurious Hilton.

Dropping off passengers

There’s no free drop-off at East Midlands unfortunately - the Rapid Drop-Off zone outside departures costs £1 for just 10 minutes, and 30 minutes in the Short-Stay car park (which is right by the terminal) for either drop-off or pick-up costs £2.20. (Prices correct on August 23, 2013.) Don’t try to drop passengers off somewhere where you’re not supposed to as there’s a rather hefty £50 fine.
