Are you getting the best deal on your foreign currency? And how much are you taking with you? Too much and you've got to change it back again - too little and you could run out. Imagine if you could pay no commission and just carry as much as you liked on one little card ...
The FairFX card is a prepaid Mastercard that works like a debit card and is protected by chip and pin technology. You load money onto it, then you can use it anywhere in the world. FairFX say their rates are so good, they can save you up to 5 per cent on the cost of your currency.
How do I put money on my FairFX card?
You can load money onto your card using your phone, or online at www.fairfx.com or www.fairfxcard.com. You can do this anywhere in the world, and the money should be on your card within 24 hours. You can also check your balance online or through your phone.
Where can I use my FairFX card?
You can use it all over the world, anywhere that accepts Mastercard - and there is no transaction fee. You can also use it to withdraw cash at cash machines, though there is a charge of €1.50 or $2 for making a withdrawal.
Should I carry some foreign currency in cash with me as well?
We'd advise you to, in the same way as you'd carry cash in the UK, in case you want to pay for something somewhere where you can't use your card.
What if I don't use all the money on my card while I'm away?
Your card is valid for three years, so it's fine to leave the money on there ready for your next holiday. If you want the money back, you can withdraw it at a UK cash machine, though you'll be charged about £1.50 for this.
How much money can I put on my FairFX card?
The maximum amount of money you can put on your FairFX card is £5,000. You can top it up no more than twice a day, with a maximum of £2,500 each time.
What do I do when I get my FairFX card?
You'll need to sign it and activate it online at www.fairfxcard.com. Your PIN will be sent to you separately from your card.
What do I do if my card is stolen?
You must call FairFX to cancel it on their 24-hour helpline on 0115 957 7420. If your card has been used fraudulently, as long as you have kept your PIN secure, you will get the money back once it has been proved that you didn't make those transactions.
Found a really good stay, park & fly deal with Holiday Extras.Good Hotel, hassle free. Also purchased a fair fx card which meant I didn't have to carry too much cash around on holiday. If I hadn't had seen it on Holiday Extras I wouldn't have known about it.
