Manchester airport Terminal 1

Around 11 million people fly from Manchester airport Terminal 1 every year. Many renovations and extensions have been undertaken since it's opening in 1962 and - most recently - the security area was expanded to 14 lanes.

Terminal 1 is divided into two levels, segregating the arrivals and departures areas.

Level 1: The main arrivals area containing a few public facilities, an information desk and a couple of shops.

Level 2: The departures area with the main distribution of retail shops and food and drink outlets. An escalator runs up to the Mezzanine level with restaurants and a bar.

There are a complete range of services and facilities for the modern traveler. Information desks, currency exchange stands, food and refreshments are located throughout the terminal.

Shopping
There are 13 stores at Terminal 1 including Alpha Airport Shopping which sells a wide range of tax free clothes, drinks and amenities. Other stores include Boots, The Body Shop and Dixons.

Cafés and Restaurants
There are food and drink outlets located after security control at Terminal 1. They are mostly distributed in the departures area with the Bar MCR, The Real Food Company and Giraffe found on Mezzanine Level 2.

Bureaux de Change
There are ICE and Thomas Cook currency exchange desks at Terminal 1. ICE is located both landside and airside, whilst Thomas Cook is just landside at Terminal 1.

Internet Access
There is wireless internet connectivity at cafés and seating areas in Terminal 1. There is free access to the Manchester airport site, otherwise you will need to create a payment account with T-mobile. This costs from 75p for 10 minutes.

Toilets
There are 4 toilets located before security control and 2 toilets after security. Disabled toilets and baby change facilities are also available in both areas. There are showers available for a small charge.

Information Desks
There are information desks in arrivals and departures. The main information desk is located in arrivals but there are blue phones throughout the terminal which connect to it, so travelers can receive help from different areas.

Prayer Room
The prayer room is in the walkway between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Travelers are invited to visit for a quiet prayer and peaceful contemplation.
