The public transport links to Stansted Airport have been improved with the introduction of a new low-cost bus service.

easyBus will offer passengers a service between central London and the airport for just £2 one-way. The company plans to offer 40 trips each way every day.

Passengers in London can get on the bus at Baker Street and people arriving in London will be dropped off in Gloucester Place.

"The arrival of easyBus is great news for Stansted and further strengthens the impressive public transport network we have developed at the airport," explained the airport's head of airline relationships and transport, Nicola Hooper.

"Around 40 per cent of our passengers already use either a bus, coach or train to get to and from the airport which is higher than any other airport in the UK and second highest in Europe."

Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of easyBus, added: "I am delighted to be adding an easyBus service between Stansted and central London in order to keep giving consumers great value.

"I hope we will launch more routes between airports and city centres in the near future."

Mr Haji-Ioannou also set up easyJet, as well as several other companies offering low-cost services on things like car hire and cruises.
