Airline Jet2 increases hold baggage allowance
[October 23rd 2008]
Some good news for airline passengers at last as airline Jet2.com announces it is increasing its hold baggage allowance.
Jet2.com, which is based at Leeds Bradford airport, says it will increase its hold luggage allowance by 30% from 17kg to 22kg on all flights after April 1st 2009. The extra hold baggage allowance will also apply to all flights booked after October 20th and taken before March 31st 2009.
This increase will give Jet2.com the highest baggage allowance in its sector the airline claims. Jet2.com says its luggage allowance of 22kg compares with the 20kg offered by rivals such as Monarch, easyJet, Thomsonfly, Aer Lingus, Flybe and bmibaby, and the 15kg offered by Ryanair.
Being able to pack more into their suitcase will be particularly good news for air passengers planning Christmas holiday shopping trips overseas, or those who like to pack plenty of outfits for their summer or winter holidays.
At Jet2.com we are committed to going that extra mile to give our customers an even better deal when they travel with us. Peoples holidays are extremely important to them and we want to ensure that their experience is enjoyable from start to finish, says Jet2.com managing director, Philip Meeson.
Allowing our passengers to travel with 22kg of hold baggage means that they now have room to pack that extra outfit, or can leave space to bring home even more souvenirs from their travels.
We are now leading the way in the leisure airline sector when it comes to the customer service that we offer. I am confident that this, along with our low fares, will be an important factor in our customers returning to us again and again, Meeson concludes.
Last week Jet2.com was voted the UKs best short haul airline by readers of the Guardian and Observer. The airline reported record load factors the measure of how full an aircraft is of 90% last month. At the same time its parent company, Dart Group plc, announced record half-year profits of £30 million.
Jet2.com has announced 22 brand new routes for summer 2009. The airline offers flights from Manchester, Newcastle, Blackpool, Edinburgh and Belfast International airports in addition to Leeds Bradford airport.
