Airline rebrands from East Midlands airport

Thomas Cook Airlines

[28th March 2008]

The new Thomas Cook Airlines will begin flights with its re-branded aircraft on 30 March, flying 42 planes from 11 UK airports to 78 destinations.

The first flight operated by the re-branded airline will fly from East Midlands airport to the winter sun destination of Monastir in Tunisia. Thomas Cook Airlines will fly two aircraft from East Midlands airport to 28 summer holiday destinations and 15 winter holiday hotspots.

“We’re very pleased to have our new airline ready for take-off from East Midlands Airport, enabling us to serve the people of the East Midlands even more effectively during the all-important summer season this year,” says Thomas Cook Airlines MD, Frank Pullman.

The new airline has been formed following the merger of Thomas Cook with MyTravel. Thomas Cook Airlines expects to fly 3.2 million passengers this year. The airline has more than 600 pilots and nearly 2,000 cabin crew.

As part of its re-branding the airline has upgraded its in-flight entertainment. There will be a greater selection of movies on long haul flights, and on short haul flights cabin crew will be able to select between two films according to customer preference. Passengers travelling in premium cabins will be offered duvets instead of blankets and u-shaped pillows for extra comfort.

Thomas Cook says it has used more than 17,000 litres of paint to re-brand its aircraft, and as well as 18,000 crew training days has had to make amendments to over five million pages of flight manuals.

Thomas Cook Airlines offers flights from many UK airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton airport, Stansted airport, Birmingham airport, Manchester airport, Glasgow airport and Edinburgh airport.
