Lounges unveiled at Heathrow T5

British Airways luxury airport lounges

[February 2008]

British Airways has announced details of the new luxury airport lounges at Heathrow Terminal 5 which opens on March 27, 2008.

The six airport lounges at the new T5 are being called Galleries by BA and have cost £60 million to build. BA says they will be “the epitome of elegance and luxury”.

Most exclusive of the new lounges at T5 is the Concorde Room, designed for up to 156 first class passengers and special guests. As well as a bar and restaurant, the lounge has a dedicated concierge desk and a boardroom.

The Galleries First Lounge features The Gold Bar, covered in gold leaf and lit by a Swarovski crystal chandelier. There is a Champagne Bar similar to that at Terminal 1, plus a Work and Entertainment Zone.

The three Galleries Club Lounges will also have a Work and Entertainment Zone, plus a wine gallery and Swarovski crystal chandeliers. The 465 seat Galleries Club Lounge in the satellite building at T5 has been specially designed for long haul passengers.

Spa treatments and luxury bathrooms will also be offered to passengers at Terminal 5. Elemis Travel Spas in the southern Galleries Lounge Pavilion and the Galleries Arrivals Lounge will offer complimentary treatments to first class, Club World and Gold Executive Club passengers travelling on long haul flights.

Treatments, including Flying Facials and the Elemis Spot-On Power Back Massage, are performed on an intelligent massage chair which warms the body and carries out an acupressure body massage on every area of tension.

The Galleries Arrival Lounge has a hydrotherapy area with 94 shower rooms plus six infinity bathrooms where water rolls continually through the bath and over the sides to keep it fresh and clean.
