American Airlines launches US flights sale

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic also have New Year sales

Cheaper flights to the US are on offer in the American Airlines New Year’s sale.

In its ‘Great American Sale’ the airline is offering tempting fares from both Heathrow and Manchester airports to major cities and holiday destinations in the US including New York and Orlando.

Flights to New York JFK from Heathrow now start from just £239 return including taxes and surcharges. And flights from Manchester airport to New York JFK start from only £269.

In total flights to nine of the most popular destinations in the US have been reduced by American Airlines. Flights need to be booked by January 27th but the lower air fares are valid for travel from now until June 30th (excluding April 1st-10th) and again between September 1st-30th 2009.

Fares from Heathrow airport start from £259 to Boston, £269 to Chicago, £289 to Miami, £299 to Dallas/Forth Worth, £300 to Orlando, £319 to Los Angeles, £320 to San Francisco, and £350 to Las Vegas.

From Manchester airport fares start from £268 to Chicago, £290 to Miami and Orlando, £302 to Boston, £304 to Dallas/Fort Worth, £320 to Los Angeles and San Francisco, and £372 to Las Vegas.

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have both also recently launched New Year sales with reduced fares on flights to several major destinations in the US.

Passengers taking advantage of the cheaper fares to Miami might like to experience the peace and quiet of the newly re-opened American Airlines Flagship Lounge at Miami International Airport before their return flight to the UK.

The Flagship Lounge offers a choice of complimentary drinks including wines plus complimentary buffet throughout the day as well as showers and a business centre.
