The public will be able to book flights from Gatwick airport to popular summer holiday destinations such as Ibiza, Cyprus and Tenerife as part of new reality TV show, CelebAir.
The as yet unnamed celebrities begin their six week training period with airline Monarch today before starting flights on CelebAir from Gatwick from 29th August until 10th October.
A Monarch plane has been rebranded and will operate in CelebAir colours. Celebrities will take on roles across a range of airline activities including cabin crew, ticket desk and airport check in.
"Celebrating our 40th anniversary this year, no UK carrier has a better knowledge of the airline industry than we do and we are proud to be sharing this expertise with the celebrities and taking responsibility for their training and mentoring," says Monarch Airlines MD, Tim Jeans.
Celebrities will be rated and judged by their customers as well as by Monarch staff, and each week the worst performing celebrity will be fired. The winner will become CelebAir's star employee and will win money for their chosen charity.
CelebAir will be on ITV2 in the autumn and channel controller Zai Bennett comments: "CelebAir promises to be a huge reality event this autumn on ITV2. It is an incredibly ambitious project on a scale not seen before in reality TV. This definitely isn't a show for work-shy celebrities, we're taking on a real plane, with real passengers with real holidays to go on - it promises to be an amazing trip."
