Check your flight details for Terminal 5
[19th March 2008]
With the opening of Heathrow Terminal 5 just over a week away, British Airways is urging passengers to check their flight details before departing for the new terminal.
Terminal 5 opens on 27 March and will be used exclusively by BA. The airline will gradually be switching its flights to T5 in the largest airline move in UK aviation history.
The first flights to move to Terminal 5 on 27 March will be all BAs domestic and European flights with the exception of Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Nice and Helsinki.
Also on 27 March, flights to Tripoli and long haul flights to Johannesburg, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Miami will transfer to T5.
Then on 30 April the remaining intercontinental flights will move to Terminal 5, with the exception of Singapore, Sydney and Bangkok.
The opening of Terminal 5 heralds a new era in air travel. Customers can look forward to a calmer, smoother, simpler airport experience at Heathrow. Were very excited about the move and hope customers are too. In order for them to arrive ready to fly and knowing what to expect, weve been sending regular communications to them and built a comprehensive microsite to allow them to familiarise themselves with the building and its fantastic facilities, says BA commercial director, Robert Boyle.
BA advises passengers to check in online if possible. After checking in online or at a check in kiosk passengers need to go to the Fast Bag Drop desks to deposit their hold luggage. However, passengers who only have hand luggage and who are flying long haul or on short haul flights to Moscow, St Petersburg, Prague or Kiev, will need to go to one of the Passport and Visa Check desks before proceeding to security.
