Cornwall to offer record destinations in '08

Newquay Cornwall airport has announced that it will offer a record 20 destinations next year.

Air travellers in the south-west will be able to access 20 destinations from Newquay Cornwall airport next year, its biggest ever offering of routes.

The network will represent growth of 50 per cent on 2007, which is well above the national average, the airport claimed.

Air Southwest recently announced that it is to commence flights from Cornwall to Newcastle, Glasgow, Cork and Chambery.

This was closely followed by further commitment from Flybe, which said that it will serve Birmingham, Glasgow and Southampton from April 2008.

Chris Cain, the airport's project director, said: "We are delighted to see the route network expanding from Newquay Cornwall airport and we especially welcome the new links which were previously not served and have long been on our target-list.

"This demonstrates how attractive Newquay is becoming as a gateway to and from Cornwall, with customers appreciating the ease and convenience of flying from their local airport."
