Coventry tops airport punctuality poll

Coventry is the top airport in the UK for preventing passenger delays, according to a new poll.

Passengers using Coventry airport face fewer delays than fliers at any other hub in the UK, according to a new poll.

Research by holiday firm Travel Counsellors showed that the average customer travelling through Coventry in the past two months had to wait less than four minutes to pass security and didn't have to wait at all to get through immigration.

David Speakman of Travel Counsellors said: 'Airports have an obligation to put travellers through as quickly and efficiently as possible.

'It's not rocket science. You calculate how many people will be going through and put

enough staff in place.'

Chris Orphanou, managing director of Coventry Airport, said that the survey underlines the hub's 'putting passengers first' approach.

Almost £10 million has been invested in improvements at Coventry since January 2006.

The airport was first opened in 1936 and is now used by nearly 700,000 passengers a year.
