Cricket star opens Manchester-Stansted route

Eastern Airways has launched its new service from Manchester to London Stansted with the help of former England cricketer Dominic Cork.

Lancashire and former England cricket star Dominic Cork has helped launch a new Eastern Airways service from Manchester to London Stansted.

The bowler teamed up with the regional airline to open the new link, which will be operational from October 29th and offer up to 15 flights a week.

Eastern Airways is taking over the route from Air Berlin, with three flights departing Manchester every weekday, including an early morning service designed for use by commuters.

The carrier previously operated the Manchester-Stansted route for three years up until 2006.

Aidan Mooney, head of network development for Manchester airport, said: "We are delighted that Eastern Airways is back on the Stansted route, with an increase in flights from Manchester.

"This route is vital to the region's economy and plays a key role in the prosperity of north-west businesses, as well as complementing the worldwide network of scheduled services from Manchester airport."

Eastern Airways also offers flights from Manchester to Inverness and on November 15th will launch a service from Southampton to Angers Loire, its first destination in France.
