Independent UK regional airline Eastern Airways has been named the most punctual scheduled airline at Birmingham and Newcastle airports.
The latest figures on airline punctuality from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for the period January to September 2008 show that more than 94% of Eastern Airways flights from Birmingham and 89% from Newcastle departed within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.
Average delays at Birmingham airport for Eastern Airways flights were just four minutes, while average delays at Newcastle airport for the airlines flights were six and a half minutes.
We have consistently been rated Birmingham and Newcastles most punctual airline for a number of years and were on target to be top for a third year at both airports, comments Eastern Airways ground services manager, Roger Hage.
Our staff are focused and committed to delivering the highest levels of service possible with on time departures to meet the high expectations of our business travellers, Hage continues.
Eastern Airways came out ahead of a number of major airlines including flybe, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, easyJet and Ryanair for the punctuality of its flights at Birmingham and Newcastle.
The airline has dedicated fast track security channels at both Birmingham and Newcastle airports. These enable Eastern Airways passengers to avoid queues at security. The fast track security channels also mean that passengers can check in just 30 minutes before departure.
Eastern Airways has been operating high frequency services from both Birmingham and Newcastle airports since 2003. From Birmingham, Eastern Airways flies to Newcastle and the Isle of Man, while from Newcastle the airline serves Southampton, Cardiff, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Isle of Man and Stavanger in Norway.
Eastern Airways operates over 800 flights a week from 17 UK and European airports using a fleet of 30 regional aircraft.
