EMA secures 'fantastic five'

Nottingham East Midlands airport has celebrated the fact that it has won five top awards this year.

Nottingham East Midlands airport (EMA) has celebrated the fact that it has secured a "fantastic five" this year, with a quintet of major awards.

The hub was recently named airport of the year at the British Travel Awards.

In January this year EMA took the best regional airport accolade at the Travel Weekly Globe Awards and in the same month was recognised as the world's leading eco-friendly airport at the World Travel Awards.

The Travel Bulletin 2007 Star Awards awarded Nottingham its best UK regional airport award, while the Baltic Air Charter Association decided that the Midlands hub was the top performing airport this year.

Managing director Penny Coates said: "2007 has been an incredible year for EMA, winning 'best UK airport' this week is an amazing example of how well we are perceived by our peers in the travel industry.

"We are very proud of the titles we have been awarded this year which recognise the hard work and dedication of our great team."
