Flight cancellations at Bristol airport

Flights have been cancelled at Bristol airport this morning and planes diverted to Birmingham airport due to fog at the airport.

The first flights to be cancelled this morning were the 0730 departures to Manchester airport and Leeds/Bradford airport. Other flights that have been cancelled from Bristol airport this morning include flights to Brussels, Dublin, Malaga, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Inverness, Amsterdam and Newquay. Flights to New York, Barcelona, Banjul, Paris and Frankfurt are all currently delayed.

Due to the fog at Bristol airport a number of flights into the airport have been diverted to Birmingham airport. The first flight to be diverted this morning was the flight from Brussels due to land at 0705. Other flights diverted to Birmingham airport include flights from Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Frankfurt. The flight from Leeds/Bradford airport due to land at 1000 has been diverted to Newquay airport, and the flight from Manchester airport also due to land at 1000 has been diverted to Plymouth airport.

Spokesman for Bristol airport, James Gore, told the Weston & Somerset Mercury: "We have got very poor visibility due to fog. We've had a number of diversions on aircraft which have gone to Birmingham and has resulted in knock-on cancellations. We are making sure additional customer service staff are out giving the latest information to passengers".
