Flights to Poland boost Doncaster airport
Flights to Krakow and Katowice in Poland helped boost passenger numbers at Doncaster Robin Hood airport by 5.7% in January 2008.
Most popular destinations from Robin Hood airport in January were Alicante, Dublin, Malaga, Tenerife, and Krakow/Katowice. Flights to Poland from Doncaster Sheffield are operated by WizzAir, and other major airlines at the airport include low cost carrier Ryanair and Thomsonfly.
Robin Hood airport is part of the Peel Airports Group which also includes Liverpool John Lennon airport, Durham Tees Valley airport and City Airport Manchester.
Were happy to report the growth in passenger throughput year on year, which demonstrates the continued impact Robin Hood Airport has on the airport region, comments Peel Airports Group airport director, Hugh Lang.
Weve just seen the launch of new flights to Poznan and Wroclaw in Poland, and look ahead to new routes starting in the Summer, including Heraklion in Crete and Warsaw, Polands capital, adds Lang. Flights to Poland start from just £19.99 one way including taxes and charges.
Robin Hood airport opened in April 2005, with partial funding from the European Unions Regional Development Fund. Since then it has handled 2.7 million passengers and serves 40 popular destinations with direct flights. Passenger numbers in January totalled 62,347.
Passengers using Robin Hood airport can contribute to their local environment by donating money before or after their flight to help plant trees in the nearby South Yorkshire Forest. Robin Hood airport is part of the first airport group to operate a carbon offset scheme, called Last Call.
