A survey of passengers at the 10 busiest airports in Europe has voted Gatwick the airport with the shortest queues at security.

Airport trade body, Airports Council International (ACI) carries out the passenger survey every quarter and it is regarded as the largest and most reputable passenger survey in the world. The survey is translated into different languages to enable feedback from around the world.

In the survey passengers are asked to score airports in 35 different categories, in a range of different service sectors. The other airports in the top 10 busiest airports in Europe are: Heathrow airport, Schiphol Amsterdam, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly, Copenhagen, Madrid, Rome, Frankfurt, and Manchester airport.

“It is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our staff at Gatwick that has resulted in this excellent feedback from passengers. This time last year Gatwick came 7th out of 10 for security queue times, so to be voted top today is a real achievement. Many thanks and congratulations to everyone for making this result possible, and for helping to keep passengers safe and secure,” says BAA Gatwick MD, Andy Flower.

In the last 12 months an extra seven security lanes have been opened at Gatwick and an additional 650 security staff have been taken on. Some 35 million passengers a year now travel through Gatwick. ACI is the only global trade body for airport operators, representing 1,647 airports in 175 countries.
