Gatwick Express has claimed that it will be the first UK train company to offer its passengers a taste of the 2007 Beaujolais Nouveau.
Gatwick Express, the company that provides the rail link between London and Gatwick airport, has said that it will be offering its passengers the chance to sample the new Beaujolais Nouveau.
New Beaujolais wines are traditionally released on the third Thursday of November.
The train operator said that it will offer samples of the wine to customers on the platforms at Gatwick airport station and Victoria station on November 15th.
Gareth Jones, head of customer services for Gatwick Express, said: "We believe we are the first ever train operating company in the UK to offer the new Beaujolais Nouveau to customers. We also believe we may be the first in the world.
"This wine tasting event will appeal to our international customers as the race to ship the wine all around the world as quickly as possible has become a global phenomenon and is popular in countries such as America and Japan."
There is a 00:01 Gatwick Express service leaving Victoria on November 15th and passengers on this train will theoretically be the first people in the UK to taste the new Beaujolais wine, which is ready to drink six weeks after harvest.
