Regional airline Flybe is adding a sixth daily flight on its popular Guernsey to Gatwick service.
The extra flight will operate from June 9th until October 23rd on Mondays to Fridays. Flights will leave Gatwick at 15.30 and arrive in Guernsey at 16.30. Departure time from Guernsey will be 17.00, arriving at Gatwick at 18.00. Fares start from £29.99 one way including taxes and charges.
Flybe says it is adding the extra flight to satisfy public demand for a late afternoon service to Guernsey.
Flybes established services to and from the Channel Islands are a testament to the reliable and affordable model that has made us the Channel Islands most successful airline, says Flybe chief commercial officer, Mike Rutter.
While other airlines are abandoning their services to the Channel Islands, were bucking the economic trend and showing our commitment to Guernsey by increasing the number of flights a day on this key route, Rutter continues.
Flybe is also committed to taking the lead in keeping Britain on the move during these tough economic times, he concludes.
Travellers booking a day return flight by February 6th will have the added bonus of being able to use Flybes dedicated executive airport lounges at both Gatwick and Guernsey airports at no extra cost.
And as a further incentive, anyone booking online during January will be offered Flybes free Book with Confidence Redundancy Insurance cover. This means that in the event of job loss they will be reimbursed for the cost of their flight.
Flybe reports a successful start to 2009, with a year on year increase in traffic to its website of 1% despite recent data indicating the airline industry is experiencing a 42% slowdown overall in online flight searches.
The nation is facing unprecedented economic challenges. Passengers are clearly appreciating that Flybe is doing its bit to address these concerns by recognising that money is tight and that job insecurity is a crucial issue for many, comments Rutter.
Our success in not only maintaining but increasing the volume of internet searches for flights on www.flybe.com is a reflection of travellers confidence in our position as Europes largest regional airline, Rutter adds.
