Lufthansa to launch Bristol-Frankfurt

Lufthansa has announced a new service between Bristol airport and Frankfurt that will launch next year.

German national airline Lufthansa has announced that it will commence flights from Bristol airport to its base in Frankfurt next year.

The new three-times-a-day service will begin on March 30th 2008 to coincide with the start of summer 2008 schedules.

Some 94 seats in two classes will be available on the flights, which have been coordinated to enable passengers to access quick onward connections to Lufthansa's international network.

Tony Hallwood, aviation development director at Bristol, said: "As well as providing onward connections to central and eastern Europe, the Middle East, Far East, Australasia, USA, Canada and South America, this key new service will further reduce the need for road and rail journeys to Heathrow.

"This connectivity is also great news for the region's inbound tourism industry, as it opens up new markets for German visitors to Bristol, Bath and beyond."

Lufthansa's worldwide network currently offers over 13,000 flights a week to 188 destinations in 79 countries.
