Manchester airport opens new check in

Airport check in

A new check in area at Manchester airport Terminal 1 will become operational from 28 May affecting a number of airlines.

The airlines with check in facilities at ground level from this date will be Aer Arann, Air Berlin, Aurigny Air Services, Icelandair, Jet2.com, Olympic Airlines, Ryanair, and Lufthansa/Swiss International Airlines.

Passengers using the multi-storey short stay airport car park at Manchester airport Terminal 1 will need to take the lift to level 0 and follow signs for Ground Level Check In.

Passengers arriving by train, coach or bus can take the T1/T3 link bus and get off at Terminal 1 outside the entrance to Ground Level Check In before taking a lift to level 0. People travelling by car should follow signs to Terminal 1 Ground Level Departures where there is a drop off area outside Ground Level Check In.

Due to the redevelopment work taking place at Manchester airport the internal walkway connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 has been permanently closed but passengers can travel between the terminals using the T1/T3 link bus.

One of the main roads into Manchester airport – Outwood Lane, which leads to and from Terminals 1 and 3 – will be closed for two days from 27th May while the sails on the Welcome Arch are changed and the airport structure on the Hilton roundabout is removed. Diversion signs will be in place.

Earlier this year a new £15 million road-over-rail bridge was completed at Manchester airport to help relieve congestion and improve operational flexibility at the airport. A third platform is also being built at the airport train station to cater for the increasing number of passengers arriving at the airport by rail.
