Southampton airport ambassadors
[2nd July 2008]
Southampton airport has appointed a team of airport ambassadors equipped with the latest mobile technology to boost customer service.
The airport ambassadors are trialling the mobile technology at Southampton before airport operator BAA decides whether to roll it out at its six other UK airports, which include Heathrow and Gatwick.
The iPod iTouch is being used to help answer passenger enquiries such as train times, local traffic conditions and the weather in destinations passengers are flying to.
Another part of the airport ambassadors role is to welcome passengers arriving for the first time at Southampton airport. They are able to offer advice on local attractions and events and also suggest the best way to get to them.
Airport Ambassadors have the freedom to move around the terminal building, meaning we can offer a far more personal service, and enabling us to go the extra mile with every passenger, says one of the new airport ambassadors, Jodie Stevens.
Other members of the airport ambassadors team at Southampton airport include Lara Caulfield, Barbara Houghton, Gary Johnston, Nicola McCallum, Jenny Mullins, and Julie Stevens.
Excellent customer service is a real priority at Southampton airport, and this new team is proving extremely popular with our passengers. By being fully mobile, the team can really provide a first class service to passengers throughout the airport, explains Southampton airport customer service director, Mark Knox.
