Strong bookings for Lapland holidays

Despite the global financial crisis families are still booking trips to see Santa in Lapland this Christmas.
Esprit Holidays, which specialises in holidays visiting Santa in Lapland, reports strong bookings for its pre-Christmas trips.
“In the present climate people are very keen to maximise the quality of family life and focus on what is really important to them. A holiday to Santa’s Lapland home is a unique way of perpetuating one of the most magical aspects of childhood,” says Esprit Holidays spokesperson, Moira Clarke.
The message seems to be that in the credit crunch people are spending according to their priorities in life. “From the volume of calls we’re receiving it’s clear that consumers don’t want to miss out on the crucial time when their children are young and they can build such memories,“ Clarke adds.
With departures from Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol airports, Esprit Holidays is offering holidays lasting from one to five days in Rovaniemi and Saariselka in Finnish Lapland.
The holidays to Lapland include a private meeting with Santa, a family snowmobile sleigh ride, a husky dog ride, a reindeer sleigh ride and all the outdoor thermal wear needed to keep you warm.
“What is important for those booking a trip to meet Santa is to check what is included in the price and what is charged as extra,” suggests Clarke.
“A company such as ours will guarantee a good quality experience, with decent gifts for the kids, a private meeting with Santa, the use of outdoor thermal clothing and a range of activities included in the package. Many companies charge extra for excursions and that’s when costs can spiral out of control,” she continues.
For holidays in Santa’s Lapland home of Saariselka, Esprit Holidays has three day breaks departing from Gatwick and Manchester airports from £799 per adult with the first child under 12 going free and the second child at half price. The same holiday from Bristol airport costs from £819 per adult.
Included in the price are return flights, transfers, and bed and breakfast accommodation in the 4 diamond Hotel Holiday Club which has its own indoor waterpark.
