It can all seem rather daunting - this going on holiday business. What with organising who's going to look after the dog, canceling the newspaper and milk AND packing, there' s little time for arranging anything else.
Usually left to the men of the household, I had little idea how complicated arranging car hire can be - until that is.... I had to hire a car.
I needed a car for a trip from Chelmsford to Gatwick where I would fly out for a three week holiday, returning to Manchester airport ready for a business meeting. A simple concept you may imagine, a hire car to take me to Gatwick, and one to take me from Manchester - flying into one airport and out of the other. But oh no! I was quoted astronomical figures, with one company suggesting I return to Gatwick and drive to Manchester to keep the hire cost down!
All was not lost however, Holiday Extras were offering a new service - a car hire service; The new product allowed me to collect a car at my leisure, travel to the airport of my choice, not having to worry about losing the car keys on the beach (bikini's just don't have enough pockets!) and return to my designated airport. Completing the journey in a hire car collected on my arrival.
With this service you have the freedom to collect the car up to a day before your departure AND you can return to a different airport. An added bonus is the price, it remains the same, regardless of the length of your holiday.
Well my story has a happy ending, I sorted out my own car hire, returned to Manchester to attend my business meeting, and the car I hired was spotlessly clean, well maintained and the Europcar staff were fantastic. I even remembered to cancel the milk, although I'm not sure where I left the dog!
