To celebrate its 20th year operating flights to Orlando, airline Virgin Atlantic promises to make one family’s Disney Dream come true.

Virgin launched daily flights to Orlando from Gatwick airport in May 1988 and all children travelling to Orlando from Gatwick today will be offered Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse ears.

The airline has teamed up with Walt Disney World, Orlando and one lucky family will become the grand marshals in the ‘Disney Dreams Come True’ pre-parade in the Magic Kingdom theme park on 29th May.

Flights to Orlando from Gatwick proved so popular that Virgin Atlantic added flights from Manchester airport to Orlando in May 1996. Last summer the airline also added seasonal flights from Glasgow airport to Orlando.

“20 years on this sunny and fun-filled destination has never lost its appeal for British holidaymakers, says Virgin Atlantic chief executive, Steve Ridgway.

“Year after year so many families continue to visit the home of world-renowned Walt Disney World with almost half of all Brits choosing to fly with Virgin Atlantic. With the combined effect of the strength of the pound against the dollar and our great fares there really is no better time to visit Florida,” Ridgway adds.

Virgin now operates two daily flights to Orlando from Gatwick. A second flight to Orlando from Manchester airport now departs on Fridays and Saturdays. The summer service from Glasgow airport to Orlando will operate from 20th June until 19th July. Economy fares to Orlando until 30th June and from 18th August until 31st October start from £529 including taxes and charges.
